This year Pentlands have decided that instead of sending a Christmas card we would donate the money we would have spent to charity. The charity we have chosen to support this year is the Purple Community Fund (PCF) www.p-c-f.org, which Elinor has been involved with for many years.
PCF was set up in 2002 to give hope to thousands of people living in appalling conditions in the Philippines. Now, 16 years on, CEO and inspirational Jane Walker hopes her charity can continue to support the most vulnerable in the community with programmes that enable them to lead financially independent lives.
Christmas is a time of increased hardship for families as many parents are unemployed or casual labourers without work over the Christmas period. The children’s homes are not seasonally decorated, there are no Christmas gifts, families desperately want food for Christmas day and a few treats for their children. Last year 1042 children and their families received a gift of food.
