Celebrating Over 30 Years of Partnership: New Chapter for Mercia Metals

Strong relationships are at the heart of every successful business, and at Pentlands, we pride ourselves on treating our clients like family. This ethos was recently reflected in the celebration of a remarkable 30-year working relationship between Elinor and Jacob from Pentlands and Bob McGee of Mercia Metals.

Originally supported by Sohail Butt, founder of Pentlands, Bob became a longstanding client and friend. After Sohail’s retirement in 2018, Elinor continued to nurture the relationship, providing the same trusted advice and support. Mercia Metals, a well-respected scrap metal and skip hire company, has long served Coventry and Warwickshire with professionalism and a strong reputation for reliability.

Central to the business’s success has been Dani, who joined Mercia Metals in 2004. A loyal and dedicated employee, Dani stood by Bob through the inevitable ups and downs of running a business.

In early 2025, as Bob faced health challenges, Elinor and Jacob stepped in to make a plan for the future. Together, they agreed it was the right time to simplify life and begin a new chapter. With their guidance, Mercia Metals was successfully sold at the end of March to CwikSkip, a family-run business based in Rugby. The transition ensures that the legacy of Mercia Metals will live on, with CwikSkip continuing its tradition of quality and service.

To mark the milestone, Elinor, Bob, Dani, Jacob, and Sohail came together for a celebratory lunch, raising a glass to fond memories and new beginnings.

At Pentlands, this story is a testament to our belief in building relationships that last a lifetime.
